Get Involved - Joining Illabunda (and the purchase process)
If you are interested in living at Illabunda, either to purchase or to rent a property it is important that you join in the community development workshops.
The workshops commenced in February 2007 and are held each month, usually on the afternoon of the 4th Sunday of each month. (When Open Days are on, the workshops occur after the Open Day).
The workshops provide an opportunity to get to know other people who will be living at Illabunda, to learn more of what Illabunda is about, ask questions of the team and join in shaping the development of the community and the village.
The sales process is:
- People indicate an informal interest in becoming part of Illabunda.
- They are then invited to join in the workshops.
- In the workshops they develop an understanding of what it means to be part of Illabunda,
- They are then invited to lodge an Expression of Interest for the purchase of a lot, terrace, duplex or apartment as appropriate.
By completing an Expression of Interest and paying a refundable $1,000 deposit it will signal your serious intention to live at Illabunda and we will reserve the designated property for you to purchase when the Development Application has been approved and prices are firm. On lodging an Expression of Interest you may also be asked to verify how you expect to finance the purchase of the property.
The process is nominally on a first-come-first-served basis. However, we also try to accommodate all prospective purchasers’ needs as far as possible and thus may discuss alternative lots or dwellings with people expressing interest.
NOTE:
- At any time prospective purchasers can withdraw their expression of interest without penalty and will have their preliminary deposit refunded.
- Prospective purchasers are expected to participate in the community development process including attendance at workshops and open days.
